I posted at the beginning of the summer that my summer project was to cut and combine all my student word cards for the entire year. I've made pretty good progress. I only have 3 more lists to cut out and I'll have 21 lists of words prepared for 25 students. That's 525 words I've cut out this summer. Wow!
I use these word cards in conjunction with the Daily Five. My students choose 5 new guided reading books each week for their book boxes. Each student also has a ziploc baggie of words and math facts to study in small group with me as well. This is the perfect way to differentiate and provide one on one instruction to each student.
I've been trying to wait patiently for my classroom materials to arrive at my new school. I worked on covering all the bulletin boards and putting a few things on the walls. My long wait finally paid off and my classroom materials arrived. 20 years of teaching creates a lot of boxes. My precious boyfriend and youngest son helped me tirelessly to unpack and put things away. I'm happy to say all the boxes and crates are unpacked and my classroom is beginning to come together. I'm so exicted to begin this new school year.
I'm so excited to do all the wonderful creative things I've found on TPT. I used the Monsters Back to School Activity Pack last year and loved it. This packet has a lot of great name spelling activities and so much more. I just purchased Say My Name from Cara Carroll. I'm really excited to use this unit. I love watching my students learn to read and write their classmate's names. Please check out both these teacher's TPT stores and purchase these back to school packets. :)
I love my new school. I finally got my stuff packed and labeled at my old school. Distribution will move everything, but I can't control when. So as I patiently wait for my things to be moved I'm working on decorating my classroom some. My stapler and everything I need is packed so I've been having to borrow the secretary's. I finally bought me a new one tonight at Walmart so I don't have to keep begging for a stapler. I love using plastic tablecloths to cover bulletin boards. I used them last year and they really held up well. I really love my new classroom. It's beginning to look so colorful. I want it to be a magical place where my students love coming to learn each day.
