Have you checked Pinterest for QR code ideas? Well, you need to. It is the new technology tool that is going to change how we teach and students learn. The possibilities are endless. I have had the QR bug for a couple of years. I downloaded a few free you tube site QR codes from TPT. A fellow teacher Mary Katherine Plowman shared ideas she had found. So I really started to crave learning more about creating my own QR codes last year. I was recovering from surgery so I didn't make it very far in my search. I found one website that allowed me to create 5 then wanted to charge me monthly to create more. Booo! So I gave up. This summer as I have searched Pinterest for classroom ideas I found so many ideas for QR codes. I discovered 2 blogs last night that will forever change how I teach and how my students will learn.

Tammy shares her method for creating QR codes in the classroom in this blog entry. Please take the time to go to her blog, follow her and read this entry. She takes you step by step into the process of creating a QR code for any you tube video including your own student videos you record and upload to you tube. It is so easy. I used her method and template to create a power point QR code station for math and reading. Please feel free to download and use this freebie I created.

I found so many photos of ideas on pinterest. One teacher used student photos of them holding a printed QR code to share their projects. Some were life size, some were small on clips to stand. One teacher had QR codes on the lockers with student pictures. I would love to use all these ideas. I love the photo and QR codes on lockers. I plan to record my students reading cards with their fav. things with the spelling of their names. Students can scan friend's QR codes all year for letter and story writing. I wanted to be able to switch out the QR code easily for new projects. I found an an app called Cut Paste Photos. It allowed me to create this photograph. I can easily change out student QR codes with each new project. I used the computer website Vocaroo to record my voice and create my QR code for this photo. It seemed to be a more user friendly method than other apps I tried.
Which brings me to another amazing blog.

I hope this link gets you to her blog. It's Fun In First by Jodi Southard. She has a free download for a welcome back letter. She has a template for each grade level and the idea for using QR codes to let your students hear you read the welcome back letter. I love that idea. If you scan my QR code in my picture you will hear me read my welcome back letter. My son has several books where I recorded my voice reading the book to him. He still loves them. I have voice mails from my daddy who went to Heaven 5 years ago that I love to listen to. The precious sound of our voice is a precious gift.
Please leave me a comment about how you use QR codes in your classroom. If you have any problems creating your own codes or using the app I mentioned please leave a comment and I'll be glad to help you get started making your own QR code centers and projects.
